Frederick Health's Family Connects is a free, evidence-based service offering in-home nurse visits to new parents and caregivers. These visits, previously only available to parents delivering at Frederick Health Hospital, are now open to all newborns in Frederick County, regardless of income, insurance, or immigration status. The data behind the service proves just how impactful it is for families, with visits resulting in 50% fewer emergency room visits and overnight hospital stays in the first year of life and 30% fewer instances of postpartum anxiety and depression among mothers. The expansion of this invaluable service ensures that every family in Frederick County gets the support they need during the critical early weeks of a newborn's life.
